Sinclair Theatre to Present Regional Premiere of Broadway Revival of Godspell

Sinclair Theatre will produce the regional premiere of the Broadway Revival of Godspell on April 5-13, in Blair Hall Theatre, located in Building 2 of the Sinclair Community College Dayton campus.

"All along we wanted to do the 2012 revival, but it wasn't available when we announced our season," said director Kimberly Borst, Sinclair performance faculty member. "When it was released last month, we updated our contract and got the scripts literally off the presses from Music Theatre International."

"While the lyrics and their message remain the same, the music is much more upbeat and rearranged to reflect the most current popular music styles with more expanded and advanced vocal harmonies than the original version," says music director Daniel Greene, Sinclair Music faculty member.

Godspell is about the formation of a community according to the author's note by Stephen Schwartz. It is a series of parables, based on the Gospel of Matthew. Lively choreography, color and light bring new spirit to its timeless message of peace and love. Godspell was conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak with music and new lyrics by Schwartz.

Cast includes: Natalie Sanders as Jesus, Jordan Duval as Judas, Destre Inlow, Hayley Penchoff, Kelli Locker, Chelsea Mayle, Samantha Creech, Sydney Back, Marcus Bedinger, Skyler McNeely, Lucas Plum, Jasmine Barrett, Tokia Hampshire, Jordan Huber, John Ray, Cydnie Hampton, Crystal Johnson and Jennifer Smith.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., one Sunday April 7 matinee at 2 p.m., a Wednesday, April 10, 10 a.m. school matinee and a Downtown Dayton Thursday Nights performance at 7 p.m. on April 11.
