The English Department at Sinclair Community College will host the Sinclair Writers' Workshop on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 11 a.m.–4:30 p.m. in Building 7 Library Loggia. The event helps emerging writers in the community gain exposure to a variety of writing styles and authors and to connect with more experienced writers.

The morning keynote address is free and open to the public. Online registration and payment for afternoon sessions is available through the English department website. You can also sign up at the door starting at 10 a.m. The cost is $5 for students, $10 for seniors, staff or faculty and $25 for the general public.

The 2013 Writers' Workshop will feature Andrew Krivak, the author of the award-winning debut novel, The Sojourn, which was a National Book Award finalist, and recipient of both the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and the inaugural Chautauqua Prize. The grandson of Slovak immigrants, Krivak grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, has lived in London, and now lives with his wife and three children in Massachusetts, where he teaches in the Arts and Sciences Honors Program at Boston College.

Afternoon sessions will focus on fiction writing, the business of writing, poetry, and the personal essay. Sessions will be led by local writers Sharon Short, Kate Geiselman, Adam Williams, Sierra Leone and Lee Croxx, as well as Krivak, the keynote speaker.
