Scholarships and Application Information
Scholarships are a form of aid that assists students pay for their education. Unlike student loans, scholarships do not have to be repaid. Generally, scholarships are awarded to students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent. Scholarships may be set up to support a specific type of work like community service or support an under-represented group of students.
Sinclair Community College offers a variety of scholarship opportunities for students. Scholarships are available to recent high school graduates, new students, current students and returning students. Sinclair students also receive a wide variety of scholarships from external donors and outside resources.
Sinclair's Online Scholarship System application dates for 2015-16 are:
- Fall Semester: June 1–30
- Spring Semester: November 1–30
- Summer Semester: March 1–30
All students applying for scholarships should file the 2015-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete a Sinclair Application for Admission at apply.sinclair.edu if not currently enrolled.
High School Scholarships
Scholarships will be offered to current high school seniors graduating in the 2015-16 school year (Spring 2016) and planning on enrolling in Sinclair in the Fall 2016 semester. High school students will be able to apply for scholarships online using the Sinclair Online Scholarship Application System starting January 1, 2016. Choose Ohio First Scholarship
The Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program is part of the state's strategic effort to significantly strengthen Ohio's position in world markets such as aerospace, medicine, computer technology and alternative energy. Selected colleges and universities are awarded funding to offer scholarships to students enrolled in STEMM fields. Sinclair Community College offers over 125 programs of study covered by the scholarship in the STEMM fields. The scholarship funds are intended to defray tuition, books, and fees. Sinclair's Institutional Scholarships are available to high school graduates, new students, current students, and returning students and range from $600 - $1,800 per year for Fall and Spring semesters.
Access Grant or Book Scholarship: Students who have no federal and/or state grant eligibility will automatically be considered for an Access Grant or Book Scholarship when their financial aid file is complete provided funds are still available. Students must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA or be a new student at Sinclair.
The Sinclair Community College Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization established in 1969 to provide funding for student and college needs not otherwise covered by other means of financial assistance.
Scholarships are available to currently enrolled Sinclair students, graduating high school seniors, and adults entering college for the first time. Many scholarships are not based on financial need but consider other criteria such as field of study, academic achievement, creativity, leadership or community service.

The Physical Education department controls all athletic scholarship awards. Decisions and scholarship offers are made by individual coaches and endorsed by the athletic director. The Financial Aid & Scholarships office is notified to credit an award to the student's account. Any changes made to athletic awards must be received, in writing, from the athletic director.

External Scholarship Resources
External scholarships are awarded by agencies, clubs and organizations outside of Sinclair. These agencies may send information to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office to make available to students. The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office does not participate in the application submission or review process.
