Tutorial Services provides free educational assistance for students who are enrolled for credit in most of the academic courses.
Student tutors are selected on the basis of academic background and interpersonal skills.
How to get a tutor:
Go to the Tutorial Services office, Library 7L07. An application and referral form must be filled out with your current class schedule and available hours. This form is available online at www.sinclair.edu/support/tutor. Since tutors have classes in addition to other students, help may not always be available at the time preferred. Quarterly open lab hours are posted in Tutorial Services.
Who is eligible for tutoring?
Any Sinclair student who is enrolled in a class for academic credit may receive tutoring assistance at no cost to the student. Sessions are once or twice a week depending on the subject and availability of tutors. Walkin tutoring is available in open labs and laboratories for Accounting, American Sign Language, Autocad, BIS, BIOSIS, Chemistry Resource Center, DEV, ESL, Physics Resource Lab and the Writing Center. Quarterly open lab hours are posted in Tutorial Services. Online tutoring is available for math and English courses. >
What subjects are tutored?
Tutoring is available for most courses when students request assistance. Tutoring is usually not provided for performance related courses which do not require the use of reading, English, or mathematics skills.
Sinclair Community College has joined eTutoring.org to provide free, professional online tutoring in Writing, Math up to Calculus II, Accounting, Biology and Chemistry.
The tutoring options available are:
The ewriting lab - where you can submit up to three drafts of the same paper to a tutor, ask for specific feedback and receive a tutor's response within 48 hours.
Live tutoring (or Echat) where you meet online with a tutor in a one on one, fully interactive, virtual online session
Offline e-questions where you can leave a specific course question for an eTutor and receive a response within 48 hours.
