Pride Finishes 21-3 in the OCCAC

The Tartan Pride traveled to Parma to take on Cuyahoga for a four-game series. Leading with their ace Jon Thacker, Sinclair scored in the third inning when Dan Lawrence singled in Joe Ford on a base hit to left. From there, both aces matched each other with zeros across the board for the rest of the game as Thacker beat Musser.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, Pride hitters Matt Sullivan and Jonathon Lowe drew back to back walks with two outs. Mike Maddle then singled to left, tying the game at one. The Tartans took the lead for good in the fifth when Darwin Argumedo singled to right scoring Joe Ford and Austin Downing. Sinclair added on a few more runs in the next couple innings, and Ian Creager gave the Pride another quality conference start.

Sinclair’s offense jumped on the challenger's pitching, scoring in the first four frames. Joe Ford doubled to lead the game off and later scored on an RBI single by Darwin Argumedo, giving Sinclair a 1-0 advantage. Paul Wilson doubled in the second inning and scored on a Daniel Holtzman single, extending the lead to two. Kyle Vander Ark singled in Nick McGill in the third, giving SCC a 3-0 advantage. Sinclair and Cuyahoga both scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning, and the score would hold the rest of the way. Corey Johnson continued to dominate OCCAC play, throwing six complete innings before handing the ball to reliever TJ Teets.

The fourth and final game of the series was dominated by Tartan Pride pitching. Matt Kruzel threw 6.1 innings scoreless, with Colby Clark shutting the door. Austin Downing and Blake Hall provided two hits each, and Kruzel and Clark would combine to only allow one hit. Sinclair rolled to a 3-0 victory, sealing the series sweep.

Sinclair moves to 42-12 on the season and finished with a 21-3 OCCAC record. As conference champions, Sinclair skips the sub-regional tournament and will not host the event. The Pride will travel to Battle Creek, Michigan on Sunday to play Kellogg CC in the final tune-up before the regional tournament.
