Dayton Campus Traffic Closures

1) Fifth Street Closure

The Ohio Department of Transportation will be closing West Fifth Street between Robert Drive and Edwin Moses Blvd. beginning Monday, April 30 at 7:00 a.m. This will be a 24 hour a day closure. The affected section of Fifth Street is scheduled to reopen to motorists December 31, 2012.

Access to Building 20 will be maintained and available only from Robert Drive.

This road closure is due to a contractor performing bridge work in that area as part of the I-75 Modernization Project. Arrow boards and signs will be in place prior to the work zone to alert motorists of the upcoming closure. All work is weather permitting.

2) Traffic Pattern Switch and Ramp Closures on US 35/I-75 Northbound

The ramps from US 35 eastbound and westbound to I-75 northbound will be closed beginning Wednesday, May 2 at 8 p.m. This will be a 24-hour-a-day closure. The ramp closures will last approximately nine months. During this time, motorists will be able to use the specially designed U-turn lane located at the Edwin C. Moses Boulevard exit.

The official detours during these ramp closures are:
US 35 east to I-75 north: Take I-75 south to Edwin C. Moses Boulevard to I-75 north.
US 35 west to I-75 north: Take I-75 south to Edwin C. Moses Boulevard to I-75 north.

These ramp closures are due to a traffic pattern switch that will take place on I-75 in that area beginning Wednesday, May 2 at 8 p.m. Crews will move northbound traffic to the southbound side while they work on reconstructing the northbound section of I-75 between Edwin C. Moses Boulevard and Third Street. The traffic pattern switch will be complete Thursday, May 3 at 6 a.m. This entire construction project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2013.

Arrow boards and signs will be in place prior to the work zone to alert motorists of the upcoming closure. Law enforcement will be on hand to monitor traffic flow. All work is weather permitting.
