Dr. Sue Merrell Daly, dean of the Business and Public Services division, and Mr. Derek Allen, chair of the Department of Hospitality and Culinary Arts, announce that Chef Michelle Bridges was recently named Chef of the Year by the Dayton chapter of the American Culinary Federation.
Chef Bridges began her teaching career in the department of Hospitality Management & Tourism/Culinary Arts at Sinclair on September 1, 2011. Previously Michelle served as Garde Manger Chef at The Bistro off Broadway, Executive Chef at Kent's Woodfired Steaks, and Pastry Chef at The Inn at Versailles to name a few. She is currently certified by the American Culinary Federation as an Executive Pastry Chef and is a highly talented Culinarian.
Chef Bridges education ranges from an A.A.S. degree from Sinclair in 2007 to a MBA in Marketing from Wright State University received in 1995.
She is extremely passionate in the classroom and kitchen laboratories, teaching culinary students how to become excellent chefs. Her high standards and willingness to serve others in achieving their goals adds great value to students, the department, and the college.
According to the ACF website, "The ACF Chef of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding culinarian who works and cooks in a full-service dining facility. This person has demonstrated the highest standard of culinary skills, advanced the cuisine of America and given back to the profession through the development of students and apprentices."
