What is College Credit Plus?
If you are a student in grades 7-12, College Credit Plus (CCP) gives you the opportunity to take college courses now, earning high school and college credits at the same time.
Benefits of Enrolling in CCP
- Earn both high school and college credits for completed courses
- Reduce costs associated with earning a degree or certification
- Start on your career path while still in high school
- Receive support from high school counselors and Sinclair advisors
- CCP course grades are weighted the same as AP/IB and other advanced classes on your high school transcript
How to Apply to CCP
+ New Students (Public School)
- Complete the Intent to Participate Form. First, meet with your high school counselor and let them know you want to participate in CCP. They will instruct you on how to complete this form and return to the school.
- Apply as a student at Sinclair College. Visit apply.sinclair.edu, create an account, log in, enter your information, and submit the application.
- Sinclair sends your application information to your attending school for approval OR you will submit an School Authorization form. Sinclair receives approval from the high school or the completed authorization form. Then your Sinclair application is processed.
- Your Tartan ID and Sinclair username are generated.
- Sinclair will send you an Application Processed email and letter detailing your next steps.

+ New Students (Nonpublic and Homeschool Students)
- Apply as a CCP student at Sinclair College. Visit apply.sinclair.edu, create an account, log in, enter your information, and submit the application.
- Complete the State of Ohio CCP Funding Application & Submit the Intent to Participate form, part of the funding application. This application is due April 1st of each year.

- Note: Hybrid homeschoolers (those who participate in certain schools, such as private, extension, or charter schools) may need to complete an authorization form to obtain your school's approval. This form will be emailed to you when you submit the Online application or can be downloaded in step one above.
- Your Tartan ID and Sinclair username are generated.

+ Returning Students (Public School, Nonpublic and Homeschool Students)
- State guidelines require the submission of a Letter of Intent for each year of participation in CCP.
- Nonpublic and homeschool students receive a "Letter of Good Standing" from Sinclair by the first week in February.
- This letter is an essential part of the funding application process, which must be completed for each year of CCP participation. After funds are awarded by the state, an award letter will be available for download from your OH | ID account. The State CCP Fudning Award Letter must be submitted to Sinclair each year you plan to participate in the CCP program at Sinclair.
- The funding award process runs from early February thru April 1st of each year for the upcoming academic year.
- Students may register for CCP courses online via their my.sinclair account or in person at any Sinclair campus or learning center.
- There may be times during participation in CCP you may need to improve course eligibility by submitting updated academic records or repeating the assessment process.
How to Qualify for CCP
+ College Credit Plus Program Eligibility (State Guidelines)
The CCP program is available to qualified students in grades 7-12 who are enrolled in any public, nonpublic, or homeschool in Ohio.
Students must prove that they are "college ready" before they are able to participate in College Credit Plus. There are a couple of methods used to determine eligibility. One is based on test scores, the other on the student's high school GPA.

+ Sinclair Course Eligibility
- Students are eligible to enroll in a maximum of 30 credit hours annually.
- Eligible hours are determined by the high school for public school students and by hours paid for by the state for non-public or homeschooled students is determined via the State Funding Application process.
- Students can take courses during Summer, Fall, or Spring terms. Summer Semester is the first term of the academic year.
- Students must complete 15 credit hours in Level I courses before progressing to Level II courses.
- Courses must apply towards a degree or certificate program.
- Under CCP, a 3-credit hour or more college course equals one high school Carnegie Unit.

If it has been determined that you need to take a placement test at Sinclair, testing is offered both in-person (by appointment at the Sinclair Dayton Campus) and remotely.
Testing is only available to CCP students who have a fully processed application; you must have a Sinclair email and Tartan ID number to take the placement tests.

*Students who have Assessment scores below college-ready, but within a specific Standard Error of Measure (SEM), may qualify using high school GPA or a high school recommendation. Contact your CCP Coordinator for more information.

The CCP program is for Ohio residents. Ohio residents who intend to participate in CCP must file a Letter of Intent with their local school district/or the State of Ohio Higher Education each year.

Students who are not Ohio residents are not eligible for the CCP program. Though non-Ohio residents cannot participate or receive funding, they may be able to enroll in college courses at the applicable non-resident or international tuition rate. Some exceptions and restrictions apply--contact the CCP Office for details.

Students who are eligible for the CCP program are funded for a specific number of credit hours as determined by a state-provided formula. The families of students who register for additional credit hours are responsible for tuition and fees incurred by students who exceed the approved number of credit hours. Connect with your high school guidance counselor for the number of college credits you are eligible for in an academic year.

How to Register for Courses as a CCP Student
Students may register online via their my.sinclair account using the Sinclair Registration Portal. You can also register in person at any Sinclair campus or learning center. Please visit Sinclair's Registration Calendar for registration deadlines.
Students must register for courses prior to the start of each semester.
- It is the student's responsibility to:
- schedule meetings with their guidance counselor
- complete and submit their registration

Please note: "The subject matter of a course enrolled in under the college credit plus program may include mature subject matter or materials, including those of a graphic, explicit, violent, or sexual nature, that will not be modified based upon college credit plus enrollee participation regardless of where course instruction occurs." - From Ohio Revised Code Section 3365.035
- If you need to make changes to your course schedule after you've registered, contact your High School Guidance Counselor.
Public School students: REQUIRED textbooks are paid by the school district for all public school students. Books can be purchased online via the Sinclair online bookstore, 10 days before the start of each term. These books are the property of the school and should be returned to the school at the end of the course. All REQUIRED course materials are covered by the college and must be acquired via the Sinclair Campus Store.
For Non-Public and Homeschool students: Students who attend a non-public school should check with the school administration to determine if the school will cover the REQUIRED books for CCP courses. Students who attend a non-charted, non-public school or are homeschooled are responsible for purchasing their own textbooks. Sinclair will provide all supplemental supplies required by the course via the Sinclair Campus Store.
Textbook pick up and return process:
- Books that have been paid for by the school district are the property of the students’ respective high school. All books MUST be returned to the high school, unless otherwise directed by the high school administration. Contact your high school for deadlines and the book return process.
- Homeschool students own all textbooks and supplies they have purchased.

+ CCP Information Sessions
Sinclair hosts CCP Information Sessions annually in February/March. Two are held on the Sinclair Dayton Campus and two are held virtually. We will publish information about these sessions in January, including the RSVP link so you can reserve your spot. Information regarding each event will be emailed once your reservation has been completed.

- NOTE: CCP students have 14 calendar days to withdraw from a course starting the first day of class. Students who withdraw after the 14-day period will receive a W and may be responsible for reimbursement to the school district who paid the tuition.
Qualifying courses are those eligible for college credit and College Credit Plus funding. These courses are divided into two levels: Level I and Level II.
"First 15" Rule: Students must complete 15 credit hours in Level I courses before progressing to Level II courses.
Level I Courses are:
- Transferable courses - Transfer 36 (T36), Transfer Assurance Guide (TAG) or Career-Technical Assurance Guide (CTAG) courses
- Courses in computer science, information technology, anatomy, physiology or foreign language, including American Sign Language.
- Technical certificate courses
- 15-credit or 30-credit hour model pathway courses
- Study skills, academic or career success courses
- Internship courses
Level II Courses – Any allowable course that is not a Level I Course
*Exceptions may be given to students who test into a Level II course or have AP/IB credit that places them into a Level II course. See your CCP Coordinator for more information.
Non-allowable Courses
- One-on-one instructional courses
- Courses with fees that exceed a limit set by the Chancellor
- Study abroad courses
- Physical education courses
- Pass/Fail or S/U grade courses unless an internship or transferable course
- Remedial course or Sectarian religion course

+ School Partnerships Online Portal
Sinclair's School Partner Portal gives school counselors, administrators, and teachers instant 24/7 access to demographic data, student application information, and restricted course schedules and rosters. You can also use the online portal to connect with your CCP Coordinators.

Schools who wish to participate in the College Credit Plus program at Sinclair must complete a MOU Agreement that outlines the terms and conditions under which Sinclair will provide college level courses to their students.

High School teachers are encouraged to apply to teach College Credit Plus courses offered at their high schools.
Certified High School Adjuncts and Proctors are able to access Sinclair's Center of Teaching and Learning that offers resources to assist with teaching and proctoring CCP courses, as well as training and professional development opportunities.

College Credit Plus Free to Finish Scholarship
+ Qualifications and How to Apply
Sinclair Community College offers a College Credit Plus Free to Finish Scholarship for CCP students. This allows CCP high school graduates to complete their FIRST Associate Degree at Sinclair at no cost to the student.
- To qualify, students must complete at least 24 credit hours of college credit before graduation high school. This can be a combination of CCP, Tech Prep, and AP/IB credits. Students need to have taken some CCP classes at Sinclair.
- Credits awarded from another college, Tech Prep, AP/IB, will need to be transferred to Sinclair to be eligible. All credits must be reflected on the Sinclair transcript on or by June 1.
- Students must also have a minimum cumulative Sinclair 2.5 GPA by the end of their last semester of high school.
- To apply for Free to Finish, students must complete the FAFSA and all financial aid requirements. No additional application is required.
- To receive the scholarship, students who will be graduating at the end of the academic year must register at Sinclair no later than the beginning of the Fall Semester.
The scholarship covers all tuition and fees for the first Associate Degree, provided students
- enroll for a minimum of 6 credit hours (half-time)
- maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA at Sinclair.
This scholarship is applied after all other scholarships and grants, including the Tech Prep Scholarship.
**High cost programs are excluded from this program. Awards are determined by the Sinclair CCP Office.
