Nia is Swahili for purpose and the Nia Awards honors individuals who perform good deeds, but have gone unnoticed for his/her exceptional efforts. This coveted recognition is awarded to individuals in five distinct categories: student, faculty, staff, community member, and Diversity Champion who demonstrates leadership and good deeds with the "purpose" of uplifting African-American students on campus or citizens throughout the Miami Valley.
The 5th Annual Celebration of Purpose: NIA Awards and GospelFest takes place Friday, February 28 in the Blair Hall Theatre. It is a spectacular evening celebrating the principle of NIA through music and fellowship.
This year, participants will honor members of the Sinclair community who exemplify the principle of NIA, enjoy our very own Sinclair Gospel Ensemble, along with other community choirs, and hear from keynote speaker Maria S. Boykin of the Miami Valley Child Development Centers.
Congratulations to this year's NIA Award winners!
