Sinclair College officially opened its new Corporate College at Austin Landing on Thursday, May 21 to focus on training opportunities with applied cyber security and data analytics. The new facility is the first corporate college in the region, and the only one in the state to focus on cyber training.
"The opening of this facility reinforces Sinclair's commitment to helping our region stay on the cutting edge of emerging technologies," said Deb Norris, Vice President of Sinclair Workforce Development. "We have partnered with some of the leading businesses in the fields of cyber security and data analytics to create a corporate college that will provide an immediate benefit to employers throughout the region."
The unique, state-of-the-art facility is the launch of Sinclair's first Corporate College, and will focus on the needs of local businesses by providing non-credit training, workshops, seminars and industry certifications related to cyber security, intelligent systems and data analytics.
Leveraging partnerships with industry leaders such as Tenet3 and Motoman, the Corporate College will provide training engagements that incorporate advanced, hands-on learning opportunities for professionals and businesses seeking to mitigate the threat of cyber security attacks in the areas of business analytics, cyber-physical systems, robotics, health and medical, and more.
Globally, cyber crimes cost businesses upwards of $500 billion annually, and increased risk of cyber attacks is driving a demand for more industry-trained professionals. With a global market predicted to be worth more than $150 billion by 2019, the new cyber training facility will help prepare individuals looking for employment in this growing industry and businesses seeking ways to defend against the growing number of cyber attacks. Recent forecasts by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expect employment of information security analysts to grow by 37 percent by 2022.
