Sinclair Community College and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) recently announced both team and individual Academic honors for 2015-16.
The NJCAA recognized a record-number 4,587 student-athletes for their success in the classroom with the presentation of the 2015-16 NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards.
That growth nationally was also seen at Sinclair as the Pride had seven individuals earning all-academic honors – up two from last year. In addition, two teams earned all-academic team distinctions compared to one in 2015.
For the 2015-16 season, Sinclair had a total of 79 student-athletes competing on five different teams; 26 earned Dean’s List in the Fall followed by 23 in the Spring. The Pride also had 27 student-athletes earning academic all-conference honors from the OCCAC (3.3 GPA) for the year and now seven recognized at the national level.
The Sinclair student/athletes earning NJCAA All-Academic honors:
Pinnacle Academic Excellence Award (4.00 GPA):
Volleyball: Erica Oldiges and Sarah Eifert
Superior Academic Achievement Award (3.8 – 3.99):
Baseball: Connor Cleary
Women’s Basketball: Maya Murray
Exemplary Academic Achievement Award (3.6 – 3.79):
Volleyball: Alexandria Petri and Lauren Roetgerman
Women’s Basketball: Madison Schroeder
In addition to the individual honors, Sinclair had two teams earning all-academic team honors. For the fifth consecutive year, the Volleyball team earned this distinction with an overall GPA of 3.21.
Coming off their first ever NJCAA World Series appearance, the Baseball team earned their second ever all-academic team honors with a 3.06 GPA.
