Sinclair Police Academy Receives Ohio Attorney General's STAR Designation for Quality Training and Instruction

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost presented the STAR Academy designation to the Sinclair Police Academy on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Created in 2021, this designation recognizes Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission-approved police academies that go above and beyond the minimum requirements to ensure that cadets receive the best possible training.


 

The Sinclair Police Academy conducted its first basic police academy in 1989. Since its inception, the academy has completed 126 basic police academies and approximately 2,400 cadets have successfully completed the program.

Graduates of the Sinclair Police Academy complete:

  • 740 hours of required training through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy
  • 41 hours of additional training
  • Instruction in 13 different areas including first aid, CPR, building searches, and a 3-hour training in the use of drones.
