Displaced Students Eligible for Free Individualized Advising Consultation and $100 Book Scholarship
Sinclair Community College is reaching out to students displaced by the closures of Miami-Jacobs Career College and ITT Technical Institutes to help them continue with their education. The College will hold “Coffee with Sinclair” sessions starting this month. The sessions will be held at a Panera Bread location.
“We feel deeply for those students impacted by the announced closures of ITT Tech and other propriety schools,” Sinclair President Steve Johnson said. “Time is very much the enemy of anyone looking to complete an educational credential, and the sooner they can continue with their education at a reliable provider like Sinclair, the faster they can get out into the work world. As part of our commitment to reaching these students, our advisors and staff are going out into the community to work with these students one-on-one to help them identify the best path forward."
Sinclair will have Enrollment Advisors and Financial Aid representatives available to discuss how Sinclair can support students in their transition to complete their degrees. To support students in a potentially quick transition, transferring students may qualify for a one-time $100 Book Scholarship in the first term of enrollment.
Miami-Jacobs earlier this summer announced it would close its four Southwest Ohio locations, and no longer accept new students.
ITT Technical Institutes announced this week that it is closing all its operations after being banned from enrolling students supported by federal financial aid. Because Sinclair and proprietary schools are accredited differently, each student’s degree pathway will be different in terms of credit transfer and potential for new financial aid. Sinclair is committed to finding the best path forward for each student.
For students with an interest in transitioning to Sinclair who would like to meet with a Sinclair representative off campus, the following are the dates, times and location:
