The Sinclair Women's Basketball team (6-8, 1-4) was magnificent in a 99-43 win over the Lorain Co Commodores (6-10, 0-5) January 9, 2016. The Tartans were able to secure their first conference win with an impressive offense. The 99 points scored in this game is a season high for the Tartan Pride. The offense got the ball rolling in the 1st quarter with 23 points while holding the Commodores to 14 points. Madison Schroeder had 6 points while Madison Patton had 5 points.
The 2nd quarter was about both the offense and the defense. The Tartans had great ball handling and took good shots at appropriate times. Teamwork was the key for Sinclair. They were able outscore the Commodores 32-5 in 2nd quarter pulling Sinclair away for a 55-19 halftime score. Madison Schroeder led the offense with 8 points while Ashtin Brandon had 5 points. Maya Murray, Madison Patton, and Chloe Mayfield-Brown each had 4 points.
Neither the offense nor the defense let down after the 1st half. Sinclair outscored Lorain Co 20-10 in the 3rd quarter. Shots made, passes made, and teamwork again helped make both the offense and defense shine making it a 75-29 Sinclair lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Chloe Mayfield-Brown had 5 points, including a 3-point FG. Madison Shroeder, Alona Skipper, and Ashtin Brandon each had 4 points.
The Tartan Pride did not let the momentum slowdown in 4th quarter as the women scored another 24 points for the final score of 99-43. After losing 5 straight game, the Tartans showed that they were not giving up and that they still had fight in them. Maya Murray and Chloe Mayfield-Brown each scored 6 points in the 4th quarter.
Sinclair was able to score 38 more points than their season average of 60.9. Madison Schroeder led the team with 20 points and 14 total rebounds giving her a double-double. Chloe Mayfield-Brown finished with 15 points. Madison Patton and Ashtin Brandon each had 13 points. Sinclair's bench outscored Lorain's Co bench 46-2. The Commodores were outrebounded by the Tartans 66-26. The Tartan Pride led the Commodores the entire game and never gave up.Sinclair Women's next game will be at home on Wednesday, January 13th at 5:30 pm hosting Clark State* (0-0, 4-8).
