Financial Aid Policies
The Financial Aid & Scholarships office is required to establish polices that govern a student’s eligibility to receive and continue receiving federal student aid. The policies listed below describe in detail the student requirements, obligations and rules which impact their ability to receive and maintain federal student aid. View all Financial Aid policies.
Census Date Policy (view full policy) - The Federal Pell Grant is awarded to eligible students based on their enrollment status. The Federal Pell Grant is recalculated for course adds and/or drops that occur on or before the student census date of the latest starting course.

Remedial Coursework Policy (view full policy) - Remedial coursework prepares a student for study at the postsecondary level. Federal regulations determine how many credit hours of remedial coursework a student may receive Federal financial aid for.
Repeat Coursework Policy (view full policy) - Students may receive federal student aid funding for one (1) repetition of a course that has been successfully completed. The Repeat Coursework Policy governs what constitutes a successfully completed course and how a student may submit a Repeat Coursework Appeal.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy (view full policy) - Federal financial aid recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress toward the completion of a federal aid eligible program. This policy requires students to maintain a 2.0 GPA, 66.67% pace of completion (total earned credits/total attempted credits), and program completion within 150% of the published program credit hours.

Student Attendance Policy (view full policy) - Federal financial aid recipients must establish attendance or participation in courses to receive federal financial aid. How students may establish attendance in their courses, the definition of academic engagement, and how instructors submit attendance appeals are found in the full policy.
Student Loan Code of Conduct Policy (view full policy) - The purpose of the Student Loan Code of Conduct Policy is to ensure the integrity of the student aid process and ethical conduct of Sinclair officers, employees, and agents with respect to student loan practices.
Verification Policy (view full policy) - The Verification Policy describes the process by which Sinclair will verify the accuracy of information provided on a student’s FAFSA in an effort to assure federal aid is awarded to those who are eligible, as is required by the U. S. Department of Education (ED). Approximately 30% of FAFSA applications are selected by the federal processor for verification each year. Sinclair may also select any application for federal student aid for verification that the College believes is incorrect or has conflicting information. This policy verifies certain income information for tax filers and nontax filers, as well as, certain other untaxed income.
Withdrawal and Return of Title IV Funds Policy (view full policy) - Students are awarded federal aid based on the assumption they will complete the days they are scheduled to attend. Students who officially or unofficially withdraw from all courses for the current term may keep aid earned on the date of withdrawal. The unearned portion of federal financial aid disbursed to the student must be returned to the federal aid program by the school.
