What is a scholarship?  Free money!

When are scholarships open?  Scholarships on this page (below) come from various sources or sponsors which each have their own separate deadlines. Be sure to turn in all application info by the posted dates! General Applications for Sinclair scholarships are open 3 times a year by clicking the “Apply Online to Scholarships” button above:

  • Fall Semester: June 1-30
  • Spring Semester: November 1-30
  • Summer Semester: March 1-31

What do I have to do?  Sinclair scholarships ask for an essay about your education and career goals. We recommend (not require) you file a FAFSA at www.studentaid.gov as well. Be sure to read all instructions before completing any applications!

College Credit Plus Free to Finish Scholarship

Sinclair Community College offers a College Credit Plus Free to Finish Scholarship for Sinclair College CCP participants who complete at least 24 college credit hours while in CCP with a minimum Sinclair GPA of 2.5 by high school graduation. All credit hours must be posted to students’ Sinclair College transcript by June 1st after high school graduation. The CCP Free to Finish Scholarship is awarded in Fall and Spring semesters only.The scholarship covers all tuition and course fees (not including Aviation Flight Lab Fee) for the first Associate Degree, provided students enroll at least half-time (6+hours) and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA at Sinclair. Interested students must complete the FAFSA and complete all financial aid requirements.  NOTE: This information is meant to be a general guide for students and staff. Email scholarships@sinclair.edu from your my.Sinclair email inbox for questions specific to your student account.

To receive the scholarship, students must register at Sinclair by the Fall semester after high school graduation. This scholarship is applied after all other scholarships and grants, including the Tech Prep Scholarship.

Note:  High cost programs are excluded from this program. Awards are determined by the CCP Office, which can be contacted at ccplus@sinclair.edu.

In-Demand Jobs Scholarship

This scholarship was for students beginning a qualified Education or STEMM (Science, Technology, Mathematics, Manufacturing, Medical) program at Sinclair starting this Fall 2024 semester. Applications for this scholarship closed August 26th. Over 100 students have been selected! No additional students will be selected this year. However, you can find other currently available scholarships on our “External Scholarship Resources” link: https://sinclair.academicworks.com/opportunities/external.

High School Merit Scholarships

High School Merit Scholarships ranging from $2,000 - $3,000 per year are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for high school seniors who plan to enroll at Sinclair as full-time students. Applications must include an electronic copy of the student’s unofficial high school transcript (minimum 3.0 GPA) and a letter of recommendation to be uploaded as part of the application. Students complete one General Application to be automatically considered for the scholarships for which they qualify. Applications for current high school seniors (Class of 2024) are now closed. Applications will open again December 1, 2024 for rising high school seniors graduating in 2025.

Choose Ohio First Scholarships

Sinclair College participates in the Choose Ohio First Scholarship program as part of the State of Ohio’s strategic effort to support undergraduate students in earning a certificate or associate degree in one of our many innovative academic programs. This partnership works to support Ohio's position in world markets such as aerospace, medicine, computer technology, and alternative energy. Funds are for students beginning their first term in a qualified STEMM (Science, Technology, Mathematics, Manufacturing, and Health Sciences), Computer Science/IT (Information Technology), or other Work-Based Learning field. This includes College Credit Plus (CCP) and Tech Prep students who completed credits while in high school.

Institutional Scholarships

Sinclair's Institutional Scholarships are available to high school graduates and new, current, and returning students and range from $600 - to $1,800 for an academic year.

Connection Grant

This scholarship is worth $1,000/year ($500 per fall/spring semester) and is for students who have Subsidized Loan eligibility (financial need based on the FAFSA), but are not eligible for the Pell Grant. Students are automatically considered for this award when their financial aid file is complete provided funds are available. Students must enroll half-time or more to be eligible.

Sinclair Foundation

The Sinclair Community College Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization established in 1969 to provide funding for student and college needs not otherwise covered by other forms of financial aid. To view Foundation scholarships, visit the Sinclair Online Scholarship Application System.

External Scholarship Resources

External scholarships are awarded by agencies, clubs and organizations outside of Sinclair. These agencies send application information to the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office to encourage Sinclair students to apply. Students selected for an external scholarships should have their award checks marked to Sinclair's Bursar Office (Building 10, Room 016) on the Dayton campus.
