Benefit Information
Medical Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is our provider for medical insurance. The college has two plans employees can choose from: Blue Access, PPO, or Lumenos HDHP with the HSA option. There is no pre-existing conditions, or waiting periods for new employees or eligible dependents. There is an employee premium contribution amount based on plan selections. (Blue Access, Lumenos, single, family).
Dental Superior Dental is our provider for dental insurance. They are an in-network and out-of-network provider. Over 94% of local dentists are in network. There is an employee contribution amount based on plan selection (single or family).
Vision EyeMed Vision Care is our provider for quality eye care services. EyeMed Vision Care's Network consists of private practicing optometrists, ophthalmologists, opticians, and optical retailers such as LensCrafters®, Sears Optical, Target Optical and most Pearle Vision locations. There is an employee contribution amount based on plan selection (single or family).
Group Life/AD&D A term life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance policy is automatically paid for by the college for eligible employees. The employee may purchase additional voluntary life and AD&D insurance coverage for themselves and eligible dependents.
Long Term Disability A salary replacement policy for a disability sustained on or off the job is paid for by the college. Following a 90 day waiting period, benefits are payable at 60% of monthly earning prior to the disability to a maximum benefit of $7,000 per month.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Two tax saving accounts are available: a "Medical Expense Spending Account" to pay for out-of-pocket medical/dental/vision expenses not covered by insurance and a "Dependent Care Reimbursement Account" to pay for childcare expenses. Employees may contribute money to these accounts on a pre-tax basis.

Annually Contracted Faculty are excluded from this benefit.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) EmployeeCare is a local EAP that is a joint program of Miami Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital. EmployeeCare offers assistance, counseling and/or referral for a variety of issues that affect employee and family members.
Tax Deferred Annuity, 403b Plan Employees may elect pre-tax salary deductions for this retirement savings plan. Many self-directed investment options are available through a variety of participating providers.
Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS/OPERS-LE) The state retirement plan for non-faculty employees is Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). The employee contribution of 10% of salary is deducted from each paycheck. The employer contribution is currently 14%. A law enforcement employee joining PERS-LE has an employee contribution rate or 13% and employer contribution rate is 18.10%.
State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS) The state retirement plan for faculty employees is State Teachers Retirement System (STRS). The employee contribution of 13% of salary is deducted from each paycheck. The employer contribution is currently 14%.
Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP) Newly hired full-time tenure-track faculty, administrators, professionals and support staff can elect out of the state retirement system plan and elect an Alternative Retirement Plan. Alternative Retirement Plans provide a retirement option with easy state-to-state portability. ARP's are "defined contribution plans" and providers have been approved by the state.
Vacation Leave Hours are accrued per pay period for non-faculty employees. Exempt employees accrue 6.67 hours of vacation leave per pay period. Non-Exempt employees (except 9-month employees) accrue 4.0 hours of vacation leave per pay period. Non-Exempt employees also receive incremental vacation leave adjustments based on years of service. An employee may accumulate up to 240 hours of vacation time.
Sick Leave Sick leave is a benefit provided by the college to protect full-time employees against loss of income when they are unable to work. Sick leave is accrued at the rate of 5 hours per pay period up to a total of 120 hours per year. Annual unused sick leave may be accumulated up to a maximum of 1,200 hours.
Retirement with Compensation for Accumulated Sick Leave A staff member may be compensated for accumulated sick leave if he or she retires directly (PERS/PERS-LE/STRS/ARP) from full-time employment after five or more years of continuous service. The rate of payment is one day of severance pay for each four days of accumulated and unused sick leave up to a maximum of 240 hours of severance pay. Payment is based on the staff member's rate of pay at the time of retirement and shall be made only once to any one staff member.

Grant-funded employees and Annually Contracted Faculty are excluded from this benefit.
Personal Leave Twenty-four (24) hours of personal leave is made available to each full-time employee who is on the payroll as of January 1 of each year and may be used only during that calendar year. Personal leave for new employees hired after January 1 of each year is granted on a prorated basis at the rate of two hours for each full month of employment anticipated during the calendar year.
Holidays The college observes thirteen (13) paid holidays during the calendar year.
Tuition Waiver Full-time employees, their spouses, and their dependent children may attend Sinclair Community College on a no-tuition (no instructional fee) basis, if they meet the requirements for admission. Tuition remission is based on fees for Montgomery County. Those receiving this benefit must pay any additional charges such as student fees, general fees, lab fees, books, or equipment. Employees who live out of state are subject to the out-of-state surcharge.
Tuition Reimbursement Employees who have completed one full year of continuous service with the college are eligible for tuition reimbursement for course work taken at accredited, four-year colleges and universities.
