Sinclair Community College’s Mathematics department offers an associate degree program emphasizing the field. Studying through creative, consistent and logical thought is a method that aids in all aspects of human understanding—and one of the best approaches to achieve this way of thinking is through mathematics.

In addition to improving your ability to think clearly, you will also learn about the many astounding mathematical discoveries that have been made and how they can be used for practical applications in science, engineering, business and the health fields.

Why major in Mathematics?

This area of study might be for you if:
  • You are interested in the study of mathematics.
  • You like to solve problems and put together puzzles.
  • You would like to explore mathematical history and theories.
  • You enjoy working with or playing games that involve numbers and logic.

Our programs are not only for those individuals interested in earning a degree in mathematics. Many students interested in pursuing other areas, including science, healthcare, engineering, and more—take additional math classes to add value and further experience to their other programs. Our experienced and capable faculty are fully devoted to teaching you mathematics.

Through our program, you will not only be well prepared with the technical knowledge you need for your chosen career or field of study, but also with an enhanced ability to think more clearly, deeply, rigorously, analytically, and precisely about yourself and everything you encounter.

As part of this degree program, students must complete the requirements of the Ohio Transfer 36 in order to graduate. View Full Program Details
Associate of Science
The curriculum of the Associate of Science in Mathematics degree is designed to correspond to both the math and general education courses that a student would take in the first two years of pursuing a Bachelor's degree in math at a four-year institution. Coursework can be customized to fit interests in Statistics/Actuarial Science, Secondary Math Education, Pure/Applied Mathematics, or Applied Mathematical Economics. Students will get a solid grounding in the mathematics that is applied in the physical science and engineering disciplines, and an introduction to more theoretical mathematics. As part of this degree program, students must complete the requirements of the Ohio Transfer 36 in order to graduate. View Full Program Details
One-year Technical Certificate
Students will complete all first and second-year technical courses required for bachelor's programs in Actuarial Science. This coursework is aligned with the recommendations of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) for students preparing to take the SOA professional qualifying exams. See soa.org for more information.
