Welcome to Sinclair Community College's Department of Dental Health Sciences.
The DENTAL HYGIENE PROGRAM has been in existence since 1973 and is a two-year course of study involving five semesters.
It is VERY important for you to speak with an ACADEMIC ADVISOR, (937) 512-3700, room 11-346, to make sure you are scheduling the correct classes for your program of choice.
The program in dental hygiene is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. DENTAL ASSISTING PROGRAM - SPRING OF 2016: Coming in Spring 2016, Sinclair will be offering a Dental Assisting Program. Please call (937)512-2779 and request more information and that an application packet be sent out.
EXPANDED FUNCTIONS FOR DENTAL AUXILLARIES PROGRAM: The EFDA course is a consecutive 2-part series (EFD 1202/1203, 1302/1303) totaling 12 college semester credit hours (180 contact hours) of intensive training in placing of amalgam and tooth colored restorations. Completion of this 2-part series entitles the Registered Dental Hygienist or Certified Dental Assistant to take the Commission on Dental Testing in Ohio designated examination for the Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary. Successful completion of this examination awards the certificate "Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary" (EFDA).

Important Information about Health Sciences Programs: The Health Sciences (HS) Programs consist of open enrollment courses (general education and division specific) and program specific courses with limited enrollment. The open enrollment courses may be taken prior to entry into the limited enrollment courses. To qualify for entry to limited enrollment courses, please see the program specific information packet located on each HS program's webpage.
