2013 Putts fore Pride

We are cheering for you to share in our efforts of building one of the top basketball programs in the nation.  The funds raised from our event will go directly to the Men's Basketball program as they continue to strive to be great in the three "C's" (Classroom, Community & Competition).

Given all the success on the court, Coach Price emphasizes a well rounded experience for his student/athletes. Along with working hard in the class room and on the court, the Men’s Basketball Team has been actively involved with a number of community service projects.  Tuesday before Thanksgiving, team members and coaches will spend time serving dinner to the members of the Dayton Boys & Girls Club.  Several other community service projects include: The Dayton Heart Walk, MDA, Visits to the Dayton VA, NABC Reading Program and Price’s Pride Oakwood youth basketball clinics.

Another program Coach Price has put into place is the PEP-Player Enhancement Program.  The PEP offers additional study tables and tutors along with monthly guest speakers and during away games, visits to such places as the White House and the Liberty Bell.  This year we will play the University of Pennsylvania JV's before a varsity game in the famed Palestra.  The following day the team will stay and tour the National Constitutional Center, Independence Hall, Congress Hall, Old City Hall and the Liberty Bell.

The Palestra

Penn men's and women's basketball games, volleyball and wrestling matches are played at the historic Palestra, the most storied gymnasium in the history of collegiate athletics.

The Palestra has hosted more games and more visiting teams than any other facility.

Located on the University of Pennsylvania campus, The Palestra was given its name by Greek professor Dr. William N. Bates, who felt the name logical because in ancient Greece, young men would compete in a variety of events in a rectangular enclosure attached to the gymnasium to the view of all who would come -- a Palestra.

The name was widely accepted by the organizing committee for it fit the specifications: authenticity, dignity, descriptive, and novel. So, in 1927, The Palestra was opened.

We would like to invite you to share in our efforts in building a Tartan Pride Men’s Basketball program into one of the nation’s elite. The funds raised from the Putts Fore Pride will assist the Tartan Pride Men’s Basketball as they continue to be Great in the 3 C’s; Great in the Classroom, Great in the Community and Great on the Field of Competition.
