January 30, 2013: Sinclair Community College Head Coach Steve Dintaman has announced the schedule for the 2013 season, which will be his 6th season at the helm of the Tartan Pride. “I’m very excited about our schedule for the upcoming season,” said Dintaman. “We have scheduled some tough non-conference games and we’ll play three preseason ranked teams before conference begins. Our goals remain the same; win the conference and win the regional. The regional champion receives an automatic berth to the World Series and that’s where we want to be.”
Last season, Sinclair finished 44-14 tying the school record in wins and was ranked as high as 3rd in the NJCAA poll. For the 4th straight season, the Tartan Pride won the OCCAC Conference Title, giving them an automatic bid to the regional. In the past ten seasons, Sinclair has won six OCCAC Conference Championships and have been to the regional seven straight times.
Sinclair will begin the season this spring in Morristown, Tennessee on the campus of Walters State CC. The season opener though will not be against Walters but will be played against USC-Salkehatchie. After a doubleheader against USC on Saturday, the Pride will play Walters State in a single nine inning game on Sunday. “Walters has been of the top junior college programs in the country for a long time now. They are ranked in the Top 20 every year and are always in the hunt to play in the D1 World Series.”
Meet the Coach
Steve Dintaman became the seventh head coach in Tartan Pride history, August 2007. Steve will enter his fifth season as head coach of the Tartan Pride this spring.
In 2011, Coach Dintaman led the Pride to their third consecutive OCCAC Conference Championship. His team finished with a 34-15 record and received votes in the NJCAA poll throughout the season.
