Softball is back at Sinclair Community College. After a twenty one year lapse, Sinclair has announced the return of Women’s Softball as an intercollegiate sport for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Sinclair competes in Region XII of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and will participate in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC). Practices and scrimmages will begin in the fall of 2012 and conference play will begin in the spring of 2013. Softball will be conducted as a Division II sport, offering scholarships for tuition and books. The college is seeking players who are currently high school students or recent graduates who have not used two years of collegiate softball competition.

Students in the Miami Valley now have another avenue to continue their academic and athletic success. Sinclair offers the lowest tuition rate in Ohio and has established more than 100 transfer agreements to assist students in transferring to other colleges. Sinclair graduates would have the opportunity to play two years at the community college level and two additional years after transferring to a four year college.  Students must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours) in order to compete in intercollegiate sports at Sinclair.

Tryouts will be held on August 25 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Miamisburg High School Softball Field (behind tennis courts).  Anyone interested in trying out for the team should fill out a prospect form.  To attend tryouts you must have physcial and insurance information form completed and be a full time student at Sinclair.  If you have questions contact Steve Beachler at  steven.beachler@sinclair.edu  or the Athletic Office, room 8-023, 937-512-2860.
