Mathematics (MATE.S.AS)

The Associate of Science in Mathematics is designed for students who are planning to transfer to a four-year college or university and pursue a baccalaureate degree program in mathematics. The curriculum fulfills the freshman and sophomore general education requirements of most four-year colleges and universities. As part of this degree program, students must complete the requirements of the Ohio Transfer Module in order to graduate.

Students will negotiate between public and private rhetorical situations and purposes to achieve academic literacy. They will write multiple drafts using a recursive writing process as they work toward fluency in style and mechanics.

Derivatives and integrals involving piecewise, polynomial, rational, algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, inverse trigonometric and hyperbolic functions and their inverses.

Lines, planes and surfaces in space, vector-valued functions, arc length and curvature. Functions of several variables, partial derivatives with applications, multiple integrals with applications, line integrals, surface integrals, vector fields, Green’s Theorem, the Divergence Theorem and Stokes’s Theorem.

Solutions and applications of ordinary differential equations including separable, exact, homogeneous and non-homogeneous linear equations and others.
