The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Fire Science option is designed to augment the skills of the practicing paramedic. Paramedics are challenged with a variety of courses to increase their skill sets in fire technical areas. Students will gain experience from currently practicing paramedics, fire fighters and managers. This degree allows students to capitalize on their paramedic education, positioning themselves for advancement within the fire service. Prerequisites: EMS 1150 and EMS 1155 and HIM 1101
Discuss the behaviors of people when dealing with public service emergencies. Include characteristics related to EMS and fire and reflect on local, regional and historical perspectives.
Describe how EMS operates within a fire service model: Include characteristics of crew configurations, job duties, job satisfaction, cross training and delivery of health care services.
Demonstrate entry-level competency in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains of paramedic education.
