Tissue Banking Technology (TBT.S.STC)

The Tissue Banking Technology certificate program prepares individuals to attain the skills necessary to become a certified tissue banking technologist. Tissue banking technologists are integral in the recovery, processing, storage and distribution of human tissue.
Students in this program will gain basic knowledge of human anatomy, medical terminology, sterile techniques, surgical recovery and processing techniques, ethics and regulatory standards. Students will also be eligible to take the national Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) exam upon program completion.
Prerequisites: Approval of Department BIO 1107
- Demonstrate safe performance of skills related to sterile and surgical technique, and tissue recovery, processing, storage, and distribution of human tissue.
- Utilize critical thinking as a basis for clinical judgment and anticipatory decision making when handling human tissue.
- Demonstrate professional behaviors of responsibility, accountability, quality of care, ethics and federal regulation.
