Sinclair (12-4/0-0) Men’s basketball had just a little more in the tank Saturday against the Airmen from Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a second half run helped the Pride hold onto a 78-62 victory.
Another slow start for the Pride as they could not find the range as WPAFB stayed in a zone. Sinclair had 23 looks from behind the arc only to connect on 5, a miserable 21.7% in the first half. With a stroke of luck, Drew Moore threw a desperation three at the buzzer to give the Pride a 32-28 lead. That last shot did seem to break the ice for Sinclair as they were able to get some buckets to go down as they connected on 51.6% from the field and 40% from behind the arc in the second half. Still down several players due to injury, Sinclair was able to get great contributions off the bench. Once healthy, Sinclair will get three starters back and dress a total of 13. But this afternoon the Pride only had nine healthy bodies.
Sinclair’s leading scorer, Sophomore Gavin Schumann (6-1/Cincinnati – Roger Bacon H.S.) another double-double and a game high 23 points and 10 rebounds. Filling in for sidelined PG Charlie Byers, Sophomore Drew Moore (5-8/New Paris – Tri Village H.S.) got 15 points and Freshman Corbin Bates (6-2/Akron, OH – Firestone H.S.) came off the bench with 18 points.
Sinclair will continue the home schedule on Wednesday as they take on Ivy Tech at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday the Athletic Department will also honor our Volleyball team between the Women’s and Men’s games. All home games are played on the Downtown Dayton Campus in Building 8.
