Volleyball Opens in Central Ohio Invitational

Dayton, OH – Sinclair Women’s Volleyball team opened the 2011 Women’s Volleyball season on the road this past weekend by taking on two NJCAA Division II Top 30 teams in the Central Ohio Invitational.

Coming off a strong finish to the 2010 campaign, the Tartan Pride kicked off the new season with a 1-3 lose to Muskegon CC (MI). Things didn’t get any easier for the Sinclair Ladies as they took on #19 Oakland CC (MI) in the night cap. Even though they lost both matches to start the season, they played well at times against two teams ranked in the top 30.

Sinclair –vs- Muskegon (1-3) 16-25, 27-25, 14-25, 12-25

Sinclair –vs- Oakland (0-3) 18-25, 16-25, 20-15

Saturday the Pride came out ready to play as they battled Schoolcraft (MI) to a 2-3 loss in the 2nd day of the Central Ohio Invitational. Falling just short in the 5th game of a long grueling match, the Pride seemed to come together against another strong Michigan opponent.
Finishing out the day, Sinclair just ran out of gas as they lost 0-3 to St. Clair County. (MI). The toll of 4 matches in 2 days against top notch opponents wore the Pride out as they just could not overcome the power of St. Clair Co.

Sinclair –vs- Schoolcraft (2-3) 11-25, 28-26, 17-25, 25-23, 10-15
Sinclair –vs- St. Clair Co. (0-3) 16-25, 10-25, 18-15

Sinclair (0-4) will return to action Saturday and Sunday as they travel to Northwood (OH) to compete in the 2011 Owens Invitational.
