Both starters had rough first innings as Ashland scored three runs with two outs off Corey Johnson, and Sinclair answered with two in the bottom half. The game remained close, but the Sinclair offense couldn't manage much off Ashland's starter. Ashland added two more insurance runs off Johnson in the fifth, and thats how the score would remain for the rest of the game.
Final Score: Ashland JV 5, Sinclair 2
LP: Corey Johnson (0-2) 6 IP 5 ER 4 K's
Offensive Leaders: Jon Lowe 2-4 RS, Drew Williams 1-2 BB, Paul Wilson 1-2 BB
The offense would not be held down for two straight games as the bats woke up and produced seven runs in the first four innings. Until the fifth inning, Pride starter Brock Trimbur had only allowed one run and did not have any problems with the Eagle offense. Ashland's offense erupted in the top of the inning though with four hits, two walks and one batter reached on an error. With the score 7-5, Ryan Carter entered the game with bases loaded and nobody out. Carter threw a double play ball to second that scored a run and then struck out the next batter to end the threat. The Pride offense didn't score in the next two innings, and Matt Kruzel came into the game in the seventh to record the save.
