Volleyball play in the Owens Invitational

Dayton, OH – Sinclair Women’s Volleyball team traveled to the Owens Invitational this past weekend for another strong event that will help Coach Gan ready his ladies for a upcoming three game conference stretch in 4 days that will kick off the OCCAC race.

Sinclair looked like a team ready to play Saturday as they took early control of Kalamazoo, quickly winning game one without a struggle. Kalamazoo battled back to win the last three games and take the first match of the day. Sinclair again jumped out early and pulled out 27-25 game one win that would give them the confidence to hold on and put Lansing away 3-1. After playing two extremely competitive matches that had several games going to extra points, the Pride just ran out of gas losing 0-3 never finding that rally punch to give Mott any true trouble.

Sinclair –vs- Kalamazoo Valley (1-3) 25-16, 20-25, 9-25, 27-29
Sinclair –vs- Lansing (3-1) 27-25, 15-25, 25-21, 26-24
Sinclair –vs- Mott (0-3) 17-25, 23-25, 13-25

Sunday the schedule did not favor the Pride as they matched up against 2 NJCAA Top 30 teams. #10 Parkland handled the Pride with ease winning 3-0 in the first match of the day. Sinclair did bounce back only to fall short against Top 30 Genesee 1-3. The loss to Genesee was the 4th loss of the year to a NJCAA Top 30 ranked opponent.

Sinclair –vs- Parkland (0-3) 13-25, 17-25, 11-15
Sinclair –vs- Genesee (1-3) 25-20, 16-25, 22-25, 19-25

Sinclair (1-8) will return to action Wednesday the 7th of September as they jump into OCCAC conference play at Columbus State (6:00pm). The Pride will return home this weekend as they host OCCAC foes Lorain County on Friday night (6:00pm) and the #9th ranked Owens Express on Saturday (1:30pm).
