DAYTON, Ohio (04/29/10) – Sinclair Community College today announced the appointment of Michael Carter as Interim Senior Vice President. Carter will replace Dr. Robert E. Johnson who left the college to become president of Becker College in Massachusetts.

Carter has served Sinclair with distinction for nine years, in the very critical and public role of leading school linkages and the Out of School Youth Initiative. Most recently, he served as the senior director of high school linkages overseeing the college’s Fast Forward Center.

"In this time of rapidly increasing enrollments that include a higher proportion of students with more support needs, it is important to continue moving forward with dynamic stability and minimal disruption," said Sinclair President Steven Lee Johnson. "Michael’s long-term experience and seasoning ensure that he will effectively lead and represent this division."

Carter will step into his new role on Monday, May 3, and will serve until the end of the 2010–2011 academic year.

He has previously been a high school principal, coach, teacher, and a probation officer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Wittenberg University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wright State University. Carter and his family live in Vandalia.
