Police Academy Commander Recognized

Commander Bill Parsons brings enthusiasm, dedication, expertise, and integrity to his job every day. This year, he was recognized for those efforts by winning the Steve Whalen Memorial Award.

Officer Parsons is an exemplary leader in the classroom and in the community and involves the community in a creative way by teaching them that they are partners in public safety. Therefore, residents must take responsibility for their own safety by using good judgment and living their lives in a safe mode.

Officer Parson’s nominators say that he has “an optimistic personality that inspires confidence and makes people feel that any problem is solvable with the right amount of effort and teamwork.”

The Steve Whalen Memorial Award is given to those police officers who are dedicated to their community, dedicated to community based policing, have a work ethic that goes beyond a typical work day and a genuine enthusiasm for the community in which they work.
