DAYTON, Ohio (01/06/11) – Sinclair began its winter quarter on Monday with record headcount enrollment with 25,205 students. This is the sixth time in the past seven years that a new record level has been set for winter term.
Among the highest enrolled courses are developmental studies, English, biology, mathematics, and psychology.
Over 2,800 students are enrolled in business courses, 1,162 students in IT courses, and 575 students enrolled in nursing courses.
New records have been set in several areas this winter:
· The number of first generation students enrolled is at its highest for winter term at 8,777.
· Sinclair is serving the most students ages 25 years and older in a winter term at 14,059 students.
"This is a great winter term for Sinclair," said Dr. Steven Lee Johnson, president of Sinclair. "Sinclair is continuing to meet the needs of thousands of students and employers throughout our community."
Sinclair’s Workforce Development (WFD) division is serving more employers and non-credit students than ever. Last year, WFD served 12,149 individuals. The college is anticipating a 3-5% increase in the number of individuals served during 2011.
The figures listed above will fluctuate slightly from the final numbers that are reported to the Ohio Board of Regents on January 18th.
