Faculty Member Receives Fellowship

Rodney Veal, Sinclair dance instructor and choreographer, recently received a $5,000 fellowship from the Montgomery Arts and Cultural District in recognition of his work as a performing artist. Fellowships are awarded for career and artistic development. There were 27 applicants and only nine fellowships awarded; six for literary and three in performance.

Rodney recently completed his MFA in choreography at the Ohio State University. He teaches classes at Sinclair and Stiver’s School for the Performing Arts. He is choreographer for both theatre productions (Once on this Island, Little Shop of Horrors) and Sinclair Singers.

Several of his works have been performed as a part of the Ohio Dance Festival. He was one of five artists chosen nationwide to participate in the Blue Sky Dayton Project Artist in Residency Program held in collaboration with the University of Dayton in the summer of 2009. Rodney will be presenting is first solo multi-media art exhibition Reveal: Five Zones of Beauty, at the Springfield Art Museum in the summer of 2011.
