Sinclair Community College Workforce Development, in cooperation with Riverside Research, will present two one-day courses, Introduction to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Unmanned Aerial Systems and the Law, through its UAS Training and Certification Center on Sinclair’s Dayton campus. The latter course is being offered for the first time in Dayton.

"Unmanned Aerial Systems presents new business opportunities across multiple sectors for the Dayton region," said Deb Norris, Vice President for Workforce Development & Corporate Services. "This region is positioned to be a leader in UAS, leveraging its strengths across advanced manufacturing, sensor technology, data analytics and more."

Introduction to UAS on January 24 introduces specialized technologies, including newly developed sensors, aviation platforms, products and applications. Participants will explore ways to integrate their areas of interest with UAS capabilities through engaging scenarios covering a variety of use cases. Cost for the class is $475.

Unmanned Aerial Systems and the Law on January 25 will review the major components of the American legal system, especially those related to aviation and UAS operations. It will evaluate how the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) shapes and enforces aviation regulations, standards and law. It will also determine the applicability related to legal considerations including negligence, liability, privacy and more. Cost for the class is $500.

Both classes will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Sinclair Conference Center, Building 12, located at West Fourth and South Perry streets in Dayton. Fees for both classes include materials, continental breakfast, lunch and parking in the Sinclair Conference Center's underground parking garage.
