Dayton, OH – Sinclair Community College has processed and will distribute just over 9,400 financial aid checks to students this week. In total, the checks represent nearly $11 million in federal aid that students need to get their education.

“We are always excited for our students to get the help they need to achieve their higher education goals,” said Sinclair CFO Jeff Boudouris. “This is a part of my job that I really enjoy.”

The financial aid checks are a part of the nearly $52 million in federal money that flows into the Miami Valley through Sinclair every year. In addition to financial aid, Sinclair also receives federal grant money for specific programs, as well as student tuition funding.

“Over 88 percent of Sinclair’s students stay in the region after completing their program,” said Dr. Steven Lee Johnson, president and CEO of Sinclair. “These dollars ensure that our students get the training and education they need to become the workers of the future for the Miami Valley.”

The checks will be mailed to students in the next few days. The mailing is the result of the efforts of dozens of Sinclair staff who work diligently to ensure that students get the money due them in an accurate and timely manner.
