Sinclair & Miami Offer Dual Admissions

Agreement Established between Sinclair Courseview and Miami University Regionals reduces barriers, helping students complete baccalaureate degrees

Sinclair Community College has always operated with a mission to "help individuals turn dreams into achievable goals through accessible, high quality, affordable learning opportunities." To make it even easier for students to pursue bachelor’s degrees, a dual admission agreement was recently established between Sinclair’s Courseview Campus Center in Mason and Miami University’s regional system in Hamilton, Middletown and the Voice of America Learning Center in West Chester.

Under this agreement, Sinclair and Miami have aligned courses and programs allowing students to simultaneously apply and be admitted to both institutions, reducing geographic, monetary and scheduling barriers. Dually admitted students can also take comfort knowing that the close relationship between the schools allows for a focused associate to bachelor’s degree plan that can be completed in four years. George Sehi, executive dean for Sinclair’s Courseview Campus Center, says this agreement will result in more students being able to attain college degrees—an outcome greatly encouraged by the University System of Ohio’s efforts to increase cooperation among universities.

Academic advisors are available for consultation at both nationally recognized institutions to help interested students get started. These advisors will work with students to develop a schedule of courses that will lead to a Sinclair Associate of Arts degree, paving the way for seamless completion of Miami’s Bachelor of Integrative Studies degree. As part of the bachelor’s program, students choose one of seven available concentrations—Family, Gender & Society; Information Technology; Organizational Leadership; Understanding Media and Visual Culture; Applied Sociology; Contemporary American Experience; or Environmental Studies—to build the degree that works best for them.
