OTA 1213 Occupational Therapy & Adults with Physical Dysfunction

Effect of the features of major diseases, injuries, and disorders on adult occupational performance. Physical dysfunction theories, models of practice, frames of reference that provide the foundation of occupational therapy. Screening and evaluation of occupational performance affected by physical dysfunction. Includes use of occupations for the purpose of assessment, specified screening tools, assessments, observation, checklists, histories and interviews with clients and/or their family members or caregivers.

Outcomes

  • Students will understand biological, physical, social & behavioral science information in order to support an understanding of occupations of adults with physical dysfunction at a developing level.
  • Students will remember the basic tenets of OT as they apply to working with adults with physical dysfunction at a learning level.
  • Students will remember the basics of the OT Process (screening, evaluating, developing intervention plan, implementing the intervention plan & outcomes) as it pertains to working with adults with physical dysfunction at a learning level.
  • Students will remember the basics of promoting science and scholarly endeavors as it pertains to describing OT and establishing new knowledge regarding the OT profession when working with adults with physical dysfunction at a learning level.
