OTA 1311 Occupational Therapy Assistant Foundations II

Continue refining definition of occupational therapy and experience with people with physical, psychosocial and/or developmental disabilities in a non-traditional community-based setting under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant. Focuses on occupational therapy documentation, observation skills, professionalism and activity analysis. Two classroom, three clinical hours per week.

Outcomes

  • Students will understand the basic tenets of OT at a developing level.
  • Students will understand the basics of the OT Process (screening, evaluating, developing intervention plan, implementing the intervention plan & outcomes) at a developing level.
  • Students will understand the basics of the context of OT service delivery, leadership and management of OT services at a developing level.
  • Students will understand the basics of promoting science and scholarly endeavors as it pertains to describing OT and establishing new knowledge regarding the OT profession at a developing level.
  • Students will understand OT professional ethic, responsibilities & values when working with adults with physical dysfunction at a developing level
