Technology is changing… Are you ready for it?

Sinclair Community College’s Automation and Control Technology department offers an associate degree program and two short term certificate programs. This subject area is designed for technically oriented, hands-on students.

Our goal is to help you build knowledge in the application of electrical and mechanical skills for developing, installing, programming, and troubleshooting the complex machinery and sensors found in the modern manufacturing environment.

This program might be for you if:

  • You enjoy hands-on activities and hands-on learning, while working with technology.
  • You are interested in manufacturing processes and control systems, and how new technical skills are utilized today.
  • You would like to work in or advance in technology manufacturing and industrial environments.
  • You find the world of robotics interesting and want to learn more.

Individuals who study within this technical field can pursue a variety of career opportunities. Automation and control technology graduates have become: control system technicians and designers; electrical, electromechanical and electronic systems engineering technicians; industrial equipment professionals in sales, purchasing, installation, and service; industrial maintenance technicians; maintenance/troubleshooting and manufacturing technicians; robotic system integration engineering technicians; and much more.

Our program graduates can also continue their studies to become an industrial engineer. As this field continues to grow and technology advances, the professional roles available within this field become more in demand and diverse.

Degree Programs

Automation & Control Technology with Robotics - Associate of Applied Science

The Automation and Control Technology with Robotics program builds knowledge in the application of electrical and mechanical skills for developing, installing, programming and troubleshooting the complex machinery found in the modern manufacturing environment.

This degree program contains one or more embedded certificates which will be automatically awarded when the certificate requirements are completed. If you do not want to receive the embedded certificate(s), please notify Academic Advising at academicadvising@sinclair.edu .

Articulation & Transfer Agreements

Sinclair works directly with many four-year schools in Ohio and beyond to ensure the college credit you earn will transfer easily to those schools. By developing articulation agreements, formal agreements between colleges detailing the recognition of college credit between the schools, you will know you are meeting the requirements needed at the four-year school of your choice. Ohio Transfer Module

The Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degree programs fulfill the requirements for the Ohio Transfer Module at other public colleges and universities. Students in applied associate degree programs may complete some individual transfer module courses within their degree program or continue beyond their program to complete the entire transfer module.

Upon completion of the Ohio Transfer Module, students will be able to enter most Ohio four-year colleges and universities as a junior with your general education requirements completed. Find out more about the Ohio Transfer Module…
