Opposing Viewpoints in Context
 Access viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to websites, and full-text magazine and newspaper articles.  We have a short training video that shows how to use this database. 

 

CQ Researcher In-depth coverage of health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the economy.  Great for papers on commonly researched social issues (e.g. abortion, gun control, etc).

SIRS Researcher
SIRS = Social Issues Resources Series.  Full text of government publications and articles in periodicals and newspapers. Almanacs, country maps, and current news are also included.  This database is a good starting point for most topics. (more...)

LexisNexis Academic Provides access to top news, general news topics, and news transcripts, current information on people and places, foreign language news sources, magazines, wire services, federal and state court opinions, and general medical and health topics from nearly 5,000 sources. News information is updated daily and wire services several times daily. 

MasterFILE Premier Excellent full text database for most general interest topics.  It includes articles, biographies, images, and primary source documents. (more...)

Oxford English Dictionary
The accepted authority on the evolution of the English language over the last millennium. It is a guide to the meaning, history, and pronunciation of over half a million words, both present and past. It traces the usage of words through 2.5 million quotations from a wide range of international English language sources, from classic literature and specialist periodicals to film scripts and cookery books.

MLA International Bibliography
MLA International Bibliography provides a classified listing and subject index for books and articles published on modern languages, literatures, folklore, and linguistics. Annually, it indexes more than 45,000 books and articles. Coverage includes works about literature that is transmitted orally, in print, or in audiovisual media and about human language, including both natural languages and invented languages (e.g., Esperanto). Inclusions must be of scholarly interest. No apprentice or simplified works are included.  Full Text may be available depending on the article.
