Scott McCollum to Assume Role of CIO in Dr. Stone’s Division
Dayton, OH – Sinclair College President Steven Johnson is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Ty Stone to the position of Vice President. On July 1, she will assume leadership responsibility for Information Technology, Business Operations, Public Safety, the Library, the Bookstore, Food Service, and Parking Services. In this restructured division, Dr. Stone will replace Dr. Ken Moore, who is retiring after 12 exceptional years of service to Sinclair College.
“Ty Stone is a natural leader who has worked hard to hone her skills. Her background in business, non-profit organizations, and in higher education makes her a great choice for this position,” Johnson said. “I am confident that Ty will carry on the tradition of excellence and dedication to students established by Ken Moore. Ty and her team will take this division of the College to even higher levels of performance.”

Dr. Stone was selected after a thorough internal search process that vetted five viable candidates. A search committee representing a wide range of the college’s faculty and staff conducted the initial credential reviews and interviews. The senior administrators of the President’s Cabinet served as a second level review committee. The directors within Dr. Moore’s division served as a third level review, and an open forum was held with over 75 participants as a final group process of the search. President Johnson completed the process and made the final decision to hire Dr. Stone.
In a related reorganization action, Scott McCollum, the College’s current Chief Technology Officer, will assume the title of Chief Information Officer and will continue to serve in Dr. Stone’s division. Additionally, the Research Analytics & Reporting team will continue under Director Laura Mercer and will be moved into the division headed by Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jeff Boudouris.
“While I am looking forward to this next chapter of my life, I truly enjoyed my time here at Sinclair and will miss all the fantastic people I’ve come to know over my 12 years here at the College,” Dr. Moore said. “Having worked with Ty since her arrival here at Sinclair, I know that she is a wonderful choice and will do an outstanding job with this division. I’m also pleased that my colleague Scott McCollum has been promoted to my old role of CIO. He is extremely talented and will continue to do an outstanding job. It has been an honor and a privilege to work here at Sinclair.”
Ty Stone was hired as the Director of Business Services at Sinclair in 2010 after serving as the Director of Business Operations and CFO for the YWCA of Dayton. Dr. Stone has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Columbia Union College, a Master’s in Business Administration from Trinity University and a PhD in Organization and Management from Capella University.
Scott McCollum first graduated from Sinclair in 1983 with an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Data Processing and received a second Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Sinclair in 1984. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems at the University of Dayton in 1988, the same year he was hired by Sinclair after a successful career working in local business. Scott has continued to take on increasing responsibility and has held positions in a variety of technology support roles before being promoted to the position of Chief Technology Officer in 2010. During this same year, Scott also graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration from Wright State University.
