Baseball Drops to Ashland JV

(16)Sinclair (15-10/1-1) Baseball drop double-header against Ashland JV

Dayton, OH – (16)Sinclair (15-10/1-1) Baseball battled Ashland University JV Tuesday at home in a non-conference double-header at Grady’s Field - Athletes in Action in Xenia.
Game One started out as a pitchers dual with only one run scored going into the top of the 6th inning.  Sinclair starter Alex Kimsey (Unioto H.S.-Chillicothe, OH) gave the Pride a quality start as he threw 5.1 innings with 8 strike outs as he left the game in the top of the 6th with 2 on and down 1-0.  Unfortunately the bullpen was not able to shut the rally down in the 6th as Ashland pushed across the 2 runners left on base from Kimsey to take a 3-0 lead.  That would be all the runs Ashland would need to take game one (3-0) as Vince Frate for Ashland threw a 3 hit complete game shutout.

WP-Vince Frate - Ashland
LP-Alex Kimsey (2-2) - Sinclair
Game two started with Ashland scoring 4 runs in the first 3 innings as the Pride continued to struggle at the plate.  Chayse Hood (Eaton H.S.) got the scoring started for the Pride as he tripled in 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd and scored himself when Marcus Heath (Badger H.S.-Burghill, OH) doubled to tie the game at 4.  In the top of the 5th, Ashland exploded for 8 runs as the Pride bullpen was not able to shutdown the Ashland rally.  Trailing once again, Sinclair grinded out 4 runs to cut the lead in half only to see Ashland score 1 more in the top of the 6th to regain a 5 run margin.  Keeping Sinclair scoreless in the final 2 innings, Ashland finished off the double header sweep of the Pride by winning the night cap 13-8.
