DAYTON, Ohio (01/19/10) – The Institute of Higher Education at the University of Florida has recognized Sinclair Community College as a 2010 Bellwether Award Finalist for its work on decreasing the Dayton Public Schools dropout rate through the Fast Forward Center.

Each year, the Institute reviews entries submitted in three programmatic categories: Instructional Program Services, Planning Governance & Finance and Workforce Development. The applications are reviewed by a selection committee comprised of members of the Council for Resource Development, the National Council for Instructional Administrators, and the National Council for Continuing Education and Training.

The committee selects 10 finalists from each category. College representatives are invited to present on their identified programs at the Community College Futures Assembly later this month.

Other college finalists in the Workforce Development category include Baltimore City Community College, Casper College, Central Community College-Columbus, Community College of Baltimore County, Mid-South Community College, Northampton Community College, Northeast Texas Community College, Pueblo Community College and Wilbur Wrig ht College/Humboldt Park Vocational Education Center.
