Sinclair Announces New Academic Chairs

DAYTON, Ohio (07/15/08) – Sinclair Community College recently appointed three new academic chairs. Don Homan will chair the Electrical Engineering Technology department. John Weaver is chair of the History, Government and Modern Languages Department. John Mersfelder is the new chairs of the Biology Department.

Homan began teaching as a part-time instructor in 1996 and become full time instructor in 1999. Prior to his career at Sinclair, Homan held positions at EG&G Mound Applied Technologies/Monsanto Research Corporation and Sperry Gyroscope Company. Homan holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master degree in Engineering Management from the University of Dayton.

Weaver began working at Sinclair as a part-time instructor in 1993 and became a full time professor in 2003.

Prior to teaching at Sinclair, Weaver taught at Wilmington College, Wright State University, the University of Dayton and Erskine College. He holds a Bachelor degree in History from Wright State University, a Master degree in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master’s degree in Library Science from Indiana University and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Weaver is a member of the Editorial Board of Ohio History.

Mersfelder has been teaching at Sinclair since 2005. He holds a Bachelor degree in Biology from Capital University and Master and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry from the Ohio State University.
