Sinclair’s Spring Term Enrollment Finalized, Sets Several New Records

DAYTON, Ohio (04/13/11) – Sinclair College finalized its spring term enrollment for students studying in college degree and transfer programs. With an enrollment of 24,313 students, Sinclair marks the second highest spring headcount enrollment on record (spring 2010 headcount enrollment was the highest with 24,534). This spring term enrollment is 29% above FTE student enrollment levels seen just three years ago.

Sinclair’s strategy to increase access to college courses continues to succeed. Final enrollment levels indicate significant growth over 2010 enrollment levels:

• The Courseview Campus Center in Mason is up by 11%
• The Huber Heights Learning Center is up by 10%
• Preble County Learning Center in Eaton is up by 20%
• Online enrollment up by 7%

The number of first generation students (the first in their family to attend college) is at a spring term high of 8,578 students (1% above the previous spring term high water mark reached in spring 2010).

Sinclair continues to enroll extraordinary numbers of students. Over the levels seen just three years ago, student enrollment has increased significantly in the following demographic categories (since spring of 2008):
• 38% increase in first generation students
• 22% increase in students ages 25 or older
• 17% increase in African American students

The largest individual programs of study in terms of enrollment this spring are Liberal Arts (with 1,676 students), Business Management (with 899 students), Criminal Justice (with 447 students), and Nursing (with 418 students).
