Lady Tartans split at Schoolcraft Invitational

The Sinclair Lady Tartans went 1-1 over the weekend at the Schoolcraft Invitational. They fell to #2 ranked Schoolcraft 76-53 on Friday evening then defeated Division I Kennedy-King (IL) on Saturday 60-39.

In Friday evening's contest, Sinclair held tight in the opening minutes of the game and was down 13-10 at the 12:00 mark but the Ocelots went on a 6-0 to extend their lead and held a 37-26 advantage at halftime. Schoolcraft outscored Sinclair 39-27 in the 2nd half to earn the victory.

Leading the way for Sinclair were Shelby Pettit (FR/Brookville) with 13 points and Chelcie Gullett (SO/Xenia) with 12 points.

In Saturday's consolation game, the Lady Tartans defeated Division I Kennedy-King (IL). Sinclair jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead but play remained close through the first half and Sinclair held a 30-24 advantage at halftime. The Lady Tartans went on an 8-2 run to start the second half and never looked back. They went on to win 60-39.

Jessica Pierre (SO/Tipp City) had 16 points and 6 rebounds while Chelcie Gullett (SO/Xenia) added 14 points. Emily Frey (FR/Versailles) added 11 rebounds while Haleigh Hickenbottom (FR/West Liberty Salem) added 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Lady Tartans are currently 7-2 on the season. They will host the University of Dayton Club Team on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 5:30pm in the PAC.
