Sinclair LIFE Choir and Singers Present

Dayton, OH- The Sinclair LIFE Choir (Gospel Ensemble) and the Sinclair Singers Showchoir will present "Joy and the Journey" on November 15, 2008 at 8:00pm in the Blair Hall Theatre. The concert will be conducted by music professor Daniel B. Greene.

The Sinclair LIFE Choir will present music that reflects joy, exuberance, and the hope which is a major theme in American gospel music. The 20-member ensemble will sing songs made popular by such gospel artists as Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Tommy Walker, Judith McAllister, and others, with the introduction of a few original works by the Sinclair LIFE Choir itself.

Joining the LIFE choir's rhythm section that evening will be the horns from the Dayton-area jazz band, "Joshua Jazz." The group will have the audience members clapping their hands, and singing along in an effort to help people remember to hang on to their "joy" in these stressful times of change.

The next part of the concert will feature the Sinclair Singers, a 12-member singing and dancing group. The Sinclair Singers will take audience members on a "journey", reflecting some of America's more popular music.

The singers will start in the east on a train called the "Chattanooga Choo-Choo". The journey continues in the Appalachian countryside, with "Country Roads" and "Thank God I'm a Country Boy".

On to the coast, attendees will enjoying the beach at "Kokomo", stop in Detroit with the Motown hit "Dancing in the street," and finish the journey through music with an inspiring version of " I will Get There" recorded by Boyz II Men. All of the songs will featured choreographed music, lights, staging and special costumes.

"The main thought behind this presentation is that if we can maintain our joy in the journey that we make during life, we will arrive successfully at the destination that our heart has called us to," stated Prof. Greene. "This is definitely a concert that the entire family will enjoy."

"Joy and the Journey" is free and open to the public. For more information, contact 937/512-2341.
