DAYTON, OHIO (03/02/11) – The Sinclair music department presents "The Sinclair Sing-off, Shout Out, and Show-off" featuring three of its choral ensembles.

The Men’s Ensemble, Sinclair Gospel Ensemble and the Sinclair Singers Show Ensemble will perform at this winter quarter concert. It will also feature a guest brass section from the Dayton group "Joshua Jazz."

"The concert is a family-oriented, fun time with a variety of music in the popular, folk, and a bit of classical from the men’s ensemble. There will be something for everyone," Daniel Greene, music professor at Sinclair Community College, said.

The emphasis of the night is acapella music. Two pieces will be totally acapella, meaning "without instrumental accompaniment". The audience will hear music created by only by the human voice. In addition, the groups will highlight music of the African American tradition; including spirituals, contemporary Gospel, jazz, and Motown arrangements.

An 8-piece band featuring Joshua Jazz will supplement the choirs to highlight some of the Gospel songs, jazz pieces, and the Motown medley.

The concert will take place on Friday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m. in the Blair Hall Theatre on the Sinclair Main Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
