Sinclair & McGohan Brabender Partner to Offer HR Certification Preparation Class

Sinclair Community College and McGohan Brabender will partner to offer a course to prepare students for two human resources certification exams.

The Sinclair Workforce Development division, starting in February, will provide an eight-part course designed for students who plan to take the Professional in Human Resources or Senior Professional in Human Resources exams, offered by the HR Certification Institute.

The HRCI and B2B International conducted a Value of Certification Study in May 2010 and found that employers feel professionally certified HR practitioners positively influence engagement and profitability. The key findings of the study support the value of earning and maintaining this critical professional HR certification.

"The current economic climate has many people asking themselves some tough questions. Is my job secure? Do I have the skills to move up or move on? How do I compete with my peers? While no one knows for certain what the future holds, PHR and SPHR certification is a great way to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in today's job market," said Rosalie Catalano, SPHR and Contract Sales Consultant for Sinclair Workforce Development.

These HR certification preparation classes will be taught by Rosemary Rulka, SPHR. Rulka holds a Master of Science in Administration/Organizational Behavior from Central Michigan University. She is a SHRM member and has been recognized as an HR Contributor of the Year by the Miami Valley Human Resource Association, for whom she serves as Certification Chair.

The human resources certification classes will be held from 5:30-9:30 p.m. every other Thursday, Feb. 9 through May 17, at the McGohan Brabender Learning Center, 3931 S. Dixie Drive, Dayton. Fee is $750 which includes the class textbook.
