Sinclair College President Steven Johnson today announced that Tom Raga, Vice President for Advancement, would be moving to a new position at DPL, Inc., effective January 3, 2011. “Tom has contributed immeasurably to the development of Sinclair’s Advancement division. Under his leadership, the Advancement division, which was newly created when he took the helm, grew from a collection of separate operations to a highly functioning, productive organization.”
The Advancement division consists of the Sinclair Foundation, alumni association, grants development and management, public policy and legislative affairs, and entrepreneurial investments. Raga was named to the position in July of 2008. Since that time, he oversaw the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan that leveraged all of Advancement’s functions and resulted in added resources for students and the college:
· Increased the value of the Sinclair Foundation by more than $5 million, in addition to major donor pledges and gifts.
· Received $26 million in grants for the college.
· Increased by nearly 50% the number of alumni donors.
· Awarded nearly $7 million in scholarships and program support.
“Tom has positioned the Advancement division well for the future,” noted President Johnson. “He brought great experience and connections to Sinclair. We appreciate everything he has done to promote Sinclair and community college education.” Raga added, “I’m happy to be staying in the Dayton community. I’ll be working for a major partner of Sinclair and will continue to be connected and involved with Sinclair for a very long time.”
President Johnson announced that a search would commence immediately to fill Raga’s position. Sinclair Vice President Jeff Boudouris will chair the search committee. As the search takes place, President Johnson has named Joe Gorman, former Sinclair Vice President and CFO, as the interim Vice President for Advancement, starting immediately. “We will take a few weeks to fill the position. In the meantime, Joe is very familiar with the college and the foundation and will serve as an excellent steward.”
